Shaimos Long Island is a New York based organization dedicated to assisting the Jewish community in resolving its shaimos issue. In Jewish tradition, religious items such as Torah’s and Seforim that have been damaged, are unusable, or are no longer needed must be properly buried in a genizah. 
The Long Island Jewish community has never had a system in place to properly dispose of its shaimos, resulting in years of seforim and mitzvah items piling up. At Shaimos LI, we began in late 2023 with a mission to assist families, Shuls, Synagogues, Yeshivas, Schools, and religious organizations in minimizing their shaimos and properly disposing of them in a way that is convenient and respectful.
